Remembering the Maguindanao massacre 15 years later

Nineteen journalists from Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas, along with representatives from the Mindanao Institute of Journalism, MindaNews, Media Impact Philippines, and International Media Support, gathered Thursday, November 21, at the site of the 2009 Maguindanao massacre in Barangay Silay, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The event took place two days before the 15th anniversary of the deadly attack which killed 58 people, 32 of them journalists.

Of course, Joey, Ray and I were classmates in Marist School in Marikina until Grade 3 when I left for the USA. Section A. Naks! Both Joey & Ray went to UP Diliman for college, and I got to hang out with them and their respective fraternities at the Diliman campus. Salamat bros! Ray, Bombi, Nilo and I played a lot of hoops at the neighborhood basketball court at SSS Village Elementary School. Good times.
